April 12th another one day turn around

Only home for one day, but I’m looking forward to it because Adrienne has been working on a surprise at the house and I’m pretty excited to see what she has done.

The flight home went pretty well. LAX is CRAZY busy and the landing at DFW was a bit more exciting than I prefer. All in all, no problems though.

Adrienne picks me up at the airport, its so good to see her even if only for a day. When we get home I don’t see anything visibly different around the outside of the house so nothing out there was the surprise.
When I walk in to the kitchen from the garage, I quickly see the surprise. The ENTIRE kitchen has been redone. New paint (dark red), new painted cabinets and trim (gloss white), new hardware on all the cabinets and doors,, new sink and new countertops. WOW. Ok, so my first thought is “who did you rob to get the money for all of this?” I knew she said she had put some money aside for the surprise, but not enough for all of this. After closer inspection as well as a guided tour and description of labor by Adrienne, I come to understand how she did it all.  A LOT of work and little money was how she did it.
The paint was what it was. The countertops were not new; it was a kit that you buy to make the counters look like granite tops. It turned out very nice.  The sink and all of the hardware had all been removed and painted. I mean, the labor alone would have deterred me from the project. But, as a result she spent $40 on the paint in contrast to what she had priced to be $900 to purchase the real hardware that looked like what she had done.
I was so happy. The kitchen had been in need of a new paint job for some time and we just hadn’t gotten around to it. She put a lot of work into this and I am so so happy with the way it turned out. We, well likely she, is gonna redo the kitchen table and hutch black to match the rest of the kitchen.
I love when she surprises me like this. One time she redid the entire livingroom while I was on a trip to Germany. She’s awesome.

The one day at home was productive, but not a lot of time with Adrienne and the boys. I made the boys breakfast and took them to school the next morning. Then I started on the day’s projects. Grocery store, Laundry, vacuum, clean garage, wash truck, repaint dog kennel for the new dog, (more on that in a min.), dishes, pack for next trip, take Austin his ball clothes to school by 1:00pm, pick up Noah and B at 3:15pm and I think that may have been all I did. Lol. While I was doing this Adrienne was locked up in our room working. She spent the entire day doing spreadsheets YUK!
After I made dinner and we ate, Adrienne and I took a run to the mall to get me a few things for my upcoming trip. I finally got to spend a little time with her. It was a short trip but we had a good time.
Back home we settle down and hang out, hating that I have to leave in the morning for six more days. But also looking forward to the trip to the beach we are taking when I get back!
