The flight was easy but long. I flew from GSP to Detroit (uh, OK, whatever) and then from Detroit to Phoenix. The Detroit to Phoenix flight took a little over four hours due to a heavy head wind.
On the plane I saw something I found to be quite odd. Ya know how they wont let you bring so much as stupid nail file on an airplane these days? Well, as we are taxiing out I look across and forward and notice a lady knitting or crocheting or whatever it is. She has two, eight inch long, aluminum daggers that she is knitting with. I'm so surprised I just stare for a minute. No one else around seems to be paying it any attention, or at least they don't appear to be. But I cant help to wonder how in the world she got those things through security? Finally I look at the lady next to me and I point it out to her and see what she thinks. She too found it odd that the woman was able to get them on the plane. I mean, have you seen these things I'm talking about? There basically eight to ten inch aluminum nails! You mean to tell me that she can carry those on board but I cant carry a normal size tube of toothpaste or shampoo? Seriously. I'm willing to bet if she had been a dark skinned male with a beard and a towel around his head, not only would those aluminum pitchforks not been allowed on the plane, there would have been an indecent that would have made the headline news. "Sewing Psyco terrorist tries to board plane with miniature aluminum missiles!" lol. Anyway, I just found it strange.
So I drove from the airport to the University of Phoenix Stadium where the event is being held.
It looks like and inflatable stadium lol.
As I get closer I realize that the hotel is right next door to the venue, awesome.
I check into my room. Not bad. Typical Hampton inn. Clean and neat just like I like them.
I drop off my luggage and head over to the site to set up the Volt course and staging.
The parking lots we are using here are very nice in contrast to the last few places we have been. The Volt will be on a partially public road route. At .9 of a mile Its the shortest route we have run so far, but that's OK, its still a good drive for the participants.
I set up some cones and marked the staging areas. I will finish up the rest tomorrow. Now I need to find out where I am going to eat or if I am gonna go without dinner tonight.
I found a Moe's and had the Homewrecker Burrito, Love those things :-)
Paper work is all finished. Printed what I need. ready for tomorrow. Until next time.......................
